The Academic Support & Learning division is Irene Stephen & Associates’ latest addition to the company’s service portfolio. Negotiations to incorporate this division began in late 2019 and operational planning and design was concluded in September 2020. The Academic Support & Learning division welcomed its first class in January 2021.

 

The company became curious about the educational sector and explored gaps in that market that would benefit end users (parents and learners of school-going age). Results from an extensive market research revealed that the demands of daily life left little room for parents to fully engage and contribute to their children’s academic life, specifically in respect of homework assistance and preparing for tests and examinations – no matter how well they planned to execute their day.

 

Irene Stephen & Associates organized and leveraged its resources with the objective of providing a cohesive learning experience for primary school learners. To that end, Irene Stephen & Associates formulated to provide two main services that are both accessible and cost effective:

 

Homework Sitting Services: employing a professional and individually-structured approach to assisting learners with their daily homework and revising concepts of each subject matter, thereby assisting learners understand the content of the work/curriculum

 

Extra Class Support Services: where additional academic resources (materials, methods, etc.) are integrated into the prescribed curriculum to help learners prepare for formal assessments (tests and examinations)

 

Whether a learner is enrolls for the Homework Sitting Service or the Extra Class Support program, Irene Stephen & Associates’ Academic Support & Learning division wants learners to develop a positive attitude towards learning and gain academic confidence.

 

We currently offer services for learners in grade 3 through to grade 7. Sessions are from Monday to Thursday from 14:00 to 18:00, with each learner allocated one (1) hour. A master timetable is set out for each learner based on the three (3) subjects they choose to be assisted with.

 

Applications for enrolment open every year in December for the prospective year and close on the second Friday of January if the academic year.  Parents or persons interested in enrolling their children to Irene Stephen & Associates’ Academic Support & Learning are encouraged to apply as early as possible as the program can only accommodate a specific number of learners at any point of the academic year. Learners who are already enrolled are also required to apply for the prospective year as there might be changes in subjects and timetable structures.

 

Stephen & Associates’ Academic Support & Learning division is headed by Mrs Mamoeletsi, a retired educator with a career spanning more than 30 years teaching and 10 years in school management. Mrs Mamoeletsi was registered with the South African Council for Educators and has also co-authored a Sesoth Leraner’s Book titled Kgoro Ya Thuto
